MUSD Now Accepting Registration for Dual Language Immersion Programs
The Montebello Unified School District is now accepting registration for Dual Language Immersion Programs that will support the academic growth and development of both students who are English proficient and students who are still learning English.
Children should enter the program in kindergarten or in the first grade, however some exceptions will be made for those who are proficient in Spanish or have been previously enrolled in bilingual programs.
“There are so many opportunities for the students of our community at Montebello Unified’s schools,” MUSD Superintendent Susanna Contreras Smith said. “I hope that our parents take advantage of this wonderful program that will have a positive impact on their child’s education.
The Dual Language Immersion Program is available at La Merced Elementary, Winter Gardens Elementary and La Merced Intermediate schools.
Qualified teachers who hold advanced degrees in language instruction will support students and provide them with a rigorous curriculum so that they can reach high levels of academic achievement in both English and Spanish. The program features a quality learning environment with a diverse group of students.
In addition, students who become proficient in a foreign language by the time they graduate are eligible for the MUSD’s State Seal of Biliteracy program, in which students earn a seal on their high school diplomas as verification of their linguistic abilities.
